Our Serpentine Gorge food drop service provides a convenient and reliable way to restock your food and hiking supplies while trekking the Larapinta Trail.

What’s Included – $90 First Container

  • 55L food drop container hire – Suitable for approximately 1–4 hikers, depending on food and supply requirements.
  • Pre-trek container delivery – We deliver your empty container to your Alice Springs accommodation the day before you start your trek.
  • Pre-trek container collection – We collect your packed container from your accommodation.
  • Food drop delivery – Your container is transported to the designated Serpentine Gorge food drop storage area.
  • Food drop storage – Your container is stored in the designated food drop facility.
  • Rubbish bag included – For collecting rubbish during your trek.
  • Rubbish disposal – Leave your rubbish in the supplied bag inside your container for collection and disposal.
  • Container retrieval – We collect your container from Serpentine Gorge after your trek.

Additional Services

  • Extra 55L containers – $50 each at the same food drop location.
  • Storage key hire – $20. Most of our complete Larapinta Trail food drop packages include key hire at no additional charge.
  • Gear retrieval – $60, available if you need unwanted hiking gear collected and returned to your accommodation.

Serpentine Gorge Food Drop Location

The food drop storage facility is located in the blue shipping container west of the Serpentine Gorge car park. Follow the food drop storage signage.

Important: A storage key is required to access the facility. Please organise key hire or ensure you have access to a suitable key before arriving.
